The loveable dog has been named "Pi" by its owner, mathematics teacher Colette Longeran.

Pi has already become a favourite at Adams' Grammar School, in Newport, where she lives on site and can often be found wandering the corridors.

Miss Longeran, who is also the school's deputy boarding master, has been introducing the 10-week-old Labrador puppy to pupils and teachers.

Pi has already made herself at home already after joining the 50 senior boarders, aged 14 to 18, who also live on site.

The teacher said: "The boys and the boarders love her and it has helped distract them a little bit from their exams, giving them a break from revision and it makes it a bit more fun for the boarders as they have a dog to play with.

"The puppy is having a great time, she has really settled in well and she is loving all the attention."

Sonya Wilson from the school's marketing department said: "She is named Pi in tribute to Colette's role as a maths teacher."
