Four JCBs destroyed after fire at Whitchurch yard

Four JCBs and a heavy plant vehicle were destroyed in an early hours fire on a rural yard.

The blaze broke out at a yard in Prees Heath, near Whitchurch, shortly after 12.20am yesterday.

The flames were out shortly after 2am, and investigations were yesterday being carried out by firefighters at the scene.

Meanwhile, a man needed treatment after fire broke out in the lounge of a home.

The blaze at the house in the Grove in Hodnet, near Market Drayton, was reported shortly after 9.15pm on Saturday.

One man was treated for smoke inhalation and was given oxygen therapy by firefighters but declined to be taken to hospital, according to a spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

It is not yet known what caused either fire.
