Two arrested after Telford drugs raid
Two people have been arrested following a drugs raid at a home in Telford.
A man and a woman were arrested at their home in the Snedshill area of St Georges this morning.
The pair, a 32-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.
Both are currently in custody at Malinsgate Police Station in Telford after officers carried out the raid on Furnace Road just before 9am after residents came forward with information.
Once inside the house officers found several bags containing various quantities of white powder, which are suspected to be Class A drugs.
But some of the items will have to be sent away for further forensic examination to identify and confirm what they are.
Following this raid another was carried out in Wellington, but no items were seized and no arrests were made.
Constable Vicky Mansell from West Mercia Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team for St Georges, said: "Yet again, local residents have come forward to police to voice their concerns over the sale and use of drugs in their local community.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local residents for their continued support in our fight against drugs and the problems they cause.
"I hope that yesterday morning's raid demonstrates that when people are kind enough to tell us what's going on in their streets, we will act upon the information given.
"As a result of the warrant we executed in St Georges this morning, further information came to light which led us to a second address in the King Street area of Wellington which was also searched by officers involved in the operation."
Yesterday's raids are the latest in an increasing number of drugs warrants being actioned by safer neighbourhood police teams across Telford.
