Thieves stole 18 fencing panels worth around £270 from outside a property while the owners were taking their children to school.

The panels were taken from the house in Cherrington near Newport on Tuesday.

The panels, described as 3ft high white picket fencing, had only been delivered two days before and were hidden from the road.

Constable Lee Thomas, Safer Neighbourhoods officer, said: "Cherrington is a very rural area so we would appeal to anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in area on the morning of June 23 to contact police.

"I would imagine 18 fencing panels are not something that could be removed by car so we would especially like to hear from anyone who saw a strange vehicle."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101. Or information can be passed free and anonymously via the CrimeStoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
