Man burned partner with power washer after she 'missed a bit' while cleaning car
A man used an industrial-style, hot-water power washer on his partner, burning her back, after telling her she had "missed a bit" while cleaning their car.
Michael Darren Williams, 46, has been handed a two-year community order by magistrates after he sprayed his now ex-partner with the hot water.
Williams, of Llandyssil, near Montgomery, had denied a charge of assault by beating, but was found guilty after an earlier trial. Mr Kevin Challoner, prosecuting, said the couple had been in a relationship for a number of years.
He said: "On November 1, 2014, the victim was using an industrial-style pressure washer to clean the car.
"Williams came out and told her she had missed a bit and that she was 'too fat to bend over'.
"He picked up the washer and blasted her with it, scalding her. She has now moved in with her parents and says she is living in fear of repeat attacks."
Mr Challoner said the victim suffered a one to two-inch burn on her lower back from the washer.
The mark stayed on her back for approximately five weeks.
Williams appeared back at Welshpool Magistrates Court this week for sentencing.
In addition to the community order he was ordered to pay £620 costs, a £60 victim surcharge and £200 compensation to the victim.
He was also given a two-year restraining order, banning him from contacting the victim. Mr Owain Jones, for Challoner, told the court that his client had been of previous good character.
