Shropshire police officer accused of fraud
A police officer from Telford has appeared in court on money laundering charges.
Constable Peter Ba Han, 54, appeared in the dock at Southwark Crown Court yesterday to face one charge of concealing £19,335 of criminal cash and a further charge of entering into a money laundering agreement with 56-year-old David Harris.
The Kingston-based officer, of Cooke Drive, Dawley, is currently suspended by the Metropolitan Police.
Harris, of St Georges Place, Clun, is also facing two charges of fraud by false representation and four charges of concealing criminal property dating between 2010 and 2013.
Harris had power of attorney following the death of Faye Ba Han and also faces a charge of fraud by abuse of position in relation to his handling of her estate.
He allegedly pocketed the cash from the sale of Ms Ba Han's home in Purley, Sussex. Harris is further charged with cheating the public revenue between April 2007 and April 2013.
He was released on bail ahead of his plea and case management hearing.
The charges have not yet been formally put to the defendants who will return to Southwark Crown Court on 16 October to enter their pleas.
