Staff from Newport shop chase thieves who stole mobile phones

Staff from a high street shop gave chase and caught three men who has made off with their mobile phones.

The two phones, which belonged to two employees, were stolen from the shop on Newport, High Street on Monday afternoon.

The thieves distracted staff before running off along the high street.

However, staff along with members of the public, chased the three men and managed to catch them on Stafford Street car park.

The two offenders handed the phones over before getting in blue Volvo and driving off.

The three men are all described as black and aged between 19 and 25.

Constable Lee Thomas, of West Mercia Police said: "We have already heard from several members of the public, who have helped us identify the car used by the group.

"But we are keen to hear from anyone else who can provide us with further information.

"Enquiries into the vehicle the thieves used so far suggest it was last registered in the Birmingham area, although the car may have been passed on since then."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 465S of the July 6.
