Police warn about man lurking in bushes in Telford

Police have today warned about a man who has been seen lurking in bushes in Telford during the mornings.

The man has been seen hiding in bushes between Brookside and Woodside on several occasions, causing alarm to nearby residents.

On one occasion the man got out of his hiding place to follow a group of young girls as they walked to school.

Sergeant David Braid, said: "There have been several reports of a man hiding in bushes and following people between Brookside and Woodside in the mornings.

"The Safer Neighbourhood Team at Madeley have been patrolling the area on foot and on bikes and have not caught up with him yet.

"We are asking parents to ensure that children are taking safe routes to and from school and if they are using the Silken Way ensure they are not on their own.

"We will be patrolling the Silken Way after school next week. If you or your children see anything suspicious, please report it to us.

"I would just reminder people there are some strange folk out there and we have to be vigilant and protect our children."

The man is described as white and of stocky build. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
