Shropshire barn in TV showcase
A barn conversion which has been described as unique is set to feature on popular BBC home hunting series Escape to the Country.
Presenter Alistair Appleton and a film crew recently spent the day at Malt Kiln Barn, Pentrecoed, near Ellesmere, which has been chosen as the mystery property for a couple to view on the programme.
The three-bedroomed barn conversion, which is on the market with agents Halls for £369,995, is owned by accountant Jean Hesketh and her husband, Chris, a manager with BT.
They have decided to sell after nine years in the property to find a home closer to Mr Hesketh's work in Ipswich and London.
The Heskeths have not yet heard if the couple featured on Escape to the Country will be putting in an offer for their home.
The programme is expected to be broadcast later this year.
Mrs Hesketh said: "This is the longest we have ever lived anywhere and it will be difficult to leave it.
"We have done a lot of work here and it's definitely the nicest and most photogenic house we have lived in. I would describe it as a cottage-style, quirky barn conversion which has exposed beams and lots of character.
"It really is unique, as there's not another one like it. It's a thin, tall barn conversion with three floors.
"We have also converted a barn, which has a garage, workshop and shower room on the ground floor and an office on the first floor. This would be ideal for someone who works from home, as an annexe for a teenager or as a holiday let.
"We also have lovely neighbours and we live in a beautiful area that's great for cycling and walking."
Escape to the Country is a daytime television programme screened on both BBC One and BBC Two.
Couples view three properties, with the third being a mystery house.
