Two men robbed at gunpoint in Shrewsbury

Two men were threatened at gunpoint in Shrewsbury, in a robbery which also saw one of the victims punched in the head.

West Mercia Police say they have arrested three people in relation to the incident, which took place at a footpath near to Bage Way, Abbey Foregate, between 10pm and 10.15pm on Thursday.

One of the robbers was also said to have used a knife as one of the victims was forced to hand over £60.

Police say the three robbers ran off in the direction of Cineworld and stress that the gun was not fired during the robbery.

The three men are described as being 16 to 19 years of age, around five foot eight to six foot tall, of slim build. One was wearing a red Adidas hooded top and another was wearing a grey tracksuit.

Abbey Hartley of West Mercia Police confirmed that a 17 year old man from Telford, a 16 year old boy from Ellesmere, and a 17 year old man from Shrewsbury have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and have been bailed until Thursday, September 3.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw three men of these descriptions making off from the scene to call 101, quoting incident 820S Thursday July 16.
