Crews tackle fire at Welshpool flat

Fire crews were called to tackle a cooker fire which broke out in a flat in Welshpool today.

Two fire crews attended the blaze at at the first-floor flat in Mount Street.

Nobody was injured and only minor damage was caused to the kitchen area.

A spokesman for Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a flat fire at 12.39pm today in Mount Street.

"Two crews from Welshpool attended. The first-floor flat was confined to the cooker area and four breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet was used.

"After it was extinguished we used a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire was out.

"We left the scene at about 1.10pm."

Dyfed-Powys Police said the road was closed for a short time to assist the fire crews.
