The owner of a nightclub in Telford has condemned an attack which left one of his revellers with serious facial injuries – and urged people with details to contact police.

Costas Vanezi, who runs Pussycats nightclub in Wellington, said he knew Jake Minor well as he was a regular at the nightspot.

The 19-year-old, from Trench, had been partying at Pussycats with friends on July 16 and left the club when it closed at about 3.15am. He was assaulted about an hour later in a public car park around 100 metres away from the club – prompting his mother Rachel Minor to put pictures of his injuries on Facebook in a bid to catch the people responsible for the attack.

So far no arrests have been made but police are continuing to appeal for information.

Mr Vanezi said: "I condemn that behaviour. It's not acceptable for someone to cause those kind of injuries and I would appeal for anyone who was out on that night and who might have information to go to the police.

"But at the same time I don't want anyone thinking Pussycats was in any way involved. It was reported that the attack happened outside Pussycats. It didn't. We closed at 3.15am and the incident took place after 4am on a car park.

"It is about 100 metres away from Pussycats and it happened after we closed. There is no connection with us. All I know is when I left the nightclub, I left there about 3.30am to 3.45am, there was a group of people, he was one of them I know, I recognised him because he is a regular at the club.

"There were no problems at all while he was inside the club."

The images posted online on Facebook by Mrs Minor and later by the Shropshire Star have been shared nearly 3,000 times.

Anyone with information should call 101.
