Shropshire village set for weeks of disruption as water pipes installed
Residents in a Shropshire village face up to seven weeks of disruption during a major scheme to install new water pipes.
Severn Trent Water has revealed it will start work in Marchamley, near Wem, on Monday. The work is expected to take nearly two months to complete.
A drop-in session to allow residents to find out more about the work was being held today at the Lyon Memorial Hall in Hodnet, from 4pm to 7pm. Gareth Mead, spokesman for Severn Trent, said: "We're really keen to meet local people in Marchamley to tell them all about our work to replace more than a kilometre of water pipes in the village.
"At the drop-in session we'll have more information about the work and we look forward to answering any questions residents may have. We'd really encourage residents to come along and hear about our work.
We won't be there for long, but The new pipes will make sure we can continue to provide reliable water services to customers in Marchamley for years to come."
Severn Trent Water said it is working closely with Shropshire Highways to make sure bus services run as normal and that there is as little impact as possible to local residents and businesses.
