Elderly woman injured in Whitchurch after a car hit her and failed to stop

An elderly woman was injured after a car hit her and failed to stop in Whitchurch this morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after the woman in her 80s was hit by a car which then drove off on Brownlow Street.

The incident occurred at 11.30am this morning.

A woman stepped onto the pedestrian crossing on Brownlow Street, near to St Johns Street, when she was hit by a which then failed to stop.

The car is described as mustard yellow in colour and police say it then is said to have travelled along Brownlow Street in the direction of the mini island by Tesco and the fuel station.

The victim sustained an injury to her head in the incident and has suffered cuts and bruising.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have seen the vehicle beforehand to call police on 101 quoting incident number 223S of Friday, July 31.
