150,000-bird Shropshire poultry farm to double in size
A 150,000-bird poultry farm will double in size after being granted planning permission from council chiefs.
Three new sheds will be built at Meadlowland in Sleap, near Wem, which will allow the venue to house 300,000 chickens.
The sheds will be able to cater for a maximum of 150,000 chickens at any one time, and six new feed bins will be set up.
The expansion has been given the green light by members of Shropshire Council's north planning committee.
During public consultation one letter of objection was received raising the concerns about access to the road, the smell is dreadful and that the farm is already large enough.
Karen Townend, case officer at Shropshire Council, said the site had been running since October last year and no problems had been identified.
