Woman airlifted after being trapped in car

A 70-year-old woman was airlifted to a major trauma centre after a two car crash.

The accident took place on the main Presteigne to Kington road at Titley around 4.15pm on Saturday.

The woman was cut free by firefighters and was left with chest and abdominal injuries. She was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

A man in his eighties who was driving the same car had managed to get himself out.

Two men in the other car both had back pain and were taken to Hereford County Hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The woman who is in her seventies was cut free by the fire service. She had chest and abdominal injuries. She was immobilised, was intravenously given pain relief and was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

"A man in his eighties who was driving that car had managed to get himself out. He had pains to his chest and a knee. He was taken to Hereford County Hospital.

"Two men in the other car both had back pain. They were both immobilised and taken to Hereford County Hospital.

"Both cars were badly damaged in the crash."
