Woman killed and one arrested after crash near Whitchurch
A man has been arrested after a woman died in a crash involving a lorry, a van and a car.
Fire crews, police and ambulance were called to the A49 at Bickley, near Whitchurch at about 9.30am this morning.
Officers from Cheshire Police said the woman, aged 47, died as a result of the crash and a man was taken to Leighton hospital in Crewe, in Cheshire.
A 45-year-old man has been arrested and he is currently being held in police custody on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue sent one crew from Whitchurch to assist Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's crews which had come from from Malpas and Crewe.
The teams had released three people from vehicles and the road was closed in both directions between the A534 Wrexham Road, Risley, and the A41 Roundabout, Whitchurch.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 205 of 14/8/2015.
