Former Shropshire headteacher, 96, faces child sex trial
A retired headteacher has appeared in court charged with historic child sex offences relating to his time in charge of a school in Shropshire.
Jack Mount, 96, who now lives in Devon, appeared at Exeter Crown Court. He has denied 50 charges all dating from the time when he was the headmaster at the privately-run Brookside School, near Craven Arms.
The pensioner was told he will face trial at Barnstaple Crown Court in November.
Mount, who was supported by his wife and son, spoke only to confirm his name during Firday's hearing.
Judge Geoffrey Mercer QC said the trial would involve a number of alleged victims and finish before Christmas.
Prosecutors will now finalise the charges against Mount, of South Molton, near Barnstaple.
Mount, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, is registered as being visually impaired and uses hearing aids.
It is hoped the trial will start in the week of November 9.
