And giving a new coat of paint to a complex the size of Telford College of Arts and Technology is a tall task.

A total of 1,200 litres of paint will have been used up by the time the team of four painters have finished their mammoth assignment at the college's Wellington campus. Over a period of seven weeks, the painters are giving the college's walls and corridors a new lease of life, ready for the new term to begin next month.

The painting project is just one part of a huge £15 million improvement programme at Telford College over the past three years.

New specialist training centres have been springing up as part of TCAT's pledge to create state-of-the-art facilities.

They include a brand new engineering centre, a £3.5 million automotive manufacturing plant, and an on-site restaurant which is gaining rave reviews from diners.

Building work has also just been completed on The Willow Tree Centre, a new £1.8 million centre which will provide specialist facilities for learners with complex needs and disabilities.

Post-16 pupils currently based at Bridge School in Hadley in Telford will be relocated to the new complex when it opens its doors in September.

The college will be opening its doors to prospective students to provide advice and help after GCSE results. Teams of experts will be on hand from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, Friday and next Tuesday.
