Motorcyclist dies after collision with horsebox on A49 in Shropshire
A motorcyclist who was in a collision with a horsebox on a major Shropshire trunk road has died.
The 27-year-old man has not yet been named, but lost his four-day fight for life this morning.
He had been flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on Friday with life-threatening injuries, following the accident on the A49 which happened at about 7pm, between Craven Arms and Upper Affcot, near Wistanstow.
The motorcylist was riding his Suzuki GSF 600 from Craven Arms towards Shrewsbury when it collided with an Iveco horsebox travelling in the opposite direction, leaving the horsebox on its side with the animal still inside.
The driver of the horsebox was not injured.
West Mercia Police is appealing for any witnesses to the collision or to anyone who saw either vehicle beforehand to call 101, quoting incident number 595 of August 14.
