A line-up that reads like a who's who of the soap opera world includes EastEnders' Jake Wood and Dean Gaffney, X Factor winner James Arthur, This Morning's Jeff Brazier and Towie's Dan Osbourne, are just some of the stars lining up at The Greenhous Meadow in Shrewsbury this Sunday.

The match, which will be raising money for the PDSA, has been organised by former Coronation Street actor Adam Rickitt, who has promised plenty of Bank Holiday entertainment from the celebrity kick about.

He said: "This is the first time the PDSA has held a football match like this and we are looking forward to providing some family fun for the bank holiday.

"The match gives a fantastic opportunity for pet lovers in the region to come out and support the charity, which helps thousands of pets in Shropshire and beyond."

Mr Rickitt said he was delighted that so many celebrities had agreed to play in the match, which will also feature a number of former Shrewsbury Town stars.

He said: "We are thrilled to see so many stars come together to help raise vital funds for sick and injured pets and we are looking forward to seeing them strut their stuff on the pitch at Shrewsbury Town on Sunday. The match promises to be lots of fun and we're looking forward to sharing the day with fans."

The team managers for the match are Lee Latchford Evans from Steps, and Dawn Ward of the Real Housewives of Cheshire. Mr Latchford Evans said: "I recently had surgery on my back so I can't play, but as it is for a such a good cause I had to take part in it somehow. When organisers Kevin Cooper and Adam Rickitt asked me to step in as a manager I had to say yes.

"I am really looking forward to the match and I already have my eye on a few of the players I want in my team. It will be very strange not playing, but I am looking forward to seeing what this brings as I have never been a manager before."

Other players confirmed for the match include Harley from Rizzle Kicks, Tubes and Franky Fryer, of Soccer AM, Luke Friend from X Factor, Darren Everest of The Overtones and Big Reunion star Dane Bowers. A number of ex-Shrewsbury Town stars have also been added to the line-ups with Micky Brown, Dean Spink, Darren Currie and Lee Taylor confirmed.

Tickets for the match cost £10 for adults and £2 for under-16s. VIP packages are also available. Tickets are available from the Shrewsbury Town FC Box Office or by visiting www.pdsa.org.uk/football Car parking at the ground will be £5. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to PDSA's veterinary services in the Shropshire area.

The 43-year-old EastEnders star will be lining up in a celebrity-packed charity match at the Greenhous Meadow in Shrewsbury on Sunday.

Jake Wood

Wood's on-screen persona might be languishing behind bars, but the Islington-born Arsenal fan has promised he will be no slouch on the pitch as he looks to find the back of the net.

The London actor said that despite injuries catching up with him as gets older, he models himself on current Match of the Day pundits Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer – and will be aiming to emulate their goalscoring heroics.

He said: "I play five-a-side once a week. I used to play a lot more but I still keep fit, I run regularly and I still go to the gym.

"I am getting on now and the injuries have been catching up with me. I used to play on the right wing but now I just stay up front and goal hang and hopefully get all the glory."

Wood said that despite Walford's love for West Ham, Max Branning is definitely a Gunner. He said: "I don't think we have ever said who Max supports but I guess I have always played him as an Arsenal fan. Everyone in EastEnders normally supports West Ham but that goes against my principles."

Wood will be joined by a number of former players and fellow celebrities for the match, which is raising money for PDSA, and has taken part in charity games for the past three years – including a charity match at St Andrew's, the home of Birmingham City, last year.

He said: "We get to play in incredible stadiums – I have played at the Emirates, which was great for me. It is a great honour for us and a great opportunity to raise money for charity so it is win-win really."
