Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin has announced it will close its office in the Heritage Centre in Whitchurch after a drop in footfall and funds.

Hilary Knight, deputy chief executive of the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin charity, said: "Like all charities, Age UK has to run services as efficiently as possible, and over the last year footfall has reduced and the majority of contacts have been made by telephone rather than in person.

"Trustees of the charity have therefore made the decision to close the office on Friday and to save the money spent on renting office space."

Heather Osborne, chief executive said: "We will continue to deliver all our services to support older people in the town."
