Inquest opens on Oswestry chef

The inquest into the death of a chef who was killed when his motorbike was in collision with a horsebox has been opened and adjourned.

Stephen Jones, 27, of The Beeches, Morda, Oswestry, died on August 19, five days after the accident on the A49 just north of Craven Arms.

A post mortem gave the cause of death as a traumatic brain injury.

Coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Mr John Ellery sitting at the Shirehall in Shrewsbury, yesterday adjourned the inquest.

A full hearing will be held on October 27.

Mr Jones had been riding his Suzuki GSF 600 motorbike towards Shrewsbury when he was involved in the accident with the Iveco horsebox.

He was airlifted to the Royal Stoke Hospital after receiving a blood transfusion in Shrewsbury, but later died.

Mr Jones had been working as a sous chef at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel and Spa in Llanwddyn until recently.

The hotel's operations manager Anthony Rosser, said staff had been left shocked by his death, describing him as "a very fine young man who had a bright future".
