Car and motorbike destroyed by fire after Shropshire crash

A car and motorcycle were completely engulfed in flames after a crash in Shropshire that saw one man taken to hospital.

The crash happened on the B4363 north of Cleobury Mortimer at 11.10am yesterday, and both motorcycle and car were destroyed by fire.

Passengers in the car managed to get free of the vehicle before it was engulfed in the blaze and were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The motorcycle rider was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Two fire crews were called to the blaze.

Inspector Helen Thomas of West Mercia Police said: "The motorcyclist was taken to hospital by land ambulance but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing.

"Both vehicles were recovered and the road reopened."

Two fire crews from Cleobury Mortimer were called to the blaze at about 11.15am and put out the blaze using two water jets, dry power and a CO2 extinguisher.

The fire was out about 12.15pm but fire crews stayed on the scene making it safe until after 1pm, when the vehicles were recovered.
