The man was riding a grey Suzuki GSX motorcycle on the A41 at Sandford, near Whitchurch, when it collided with a blue Suzuki SX4 travelling in the opposite direction.

Paramedics and doctors went to the scene but said they were unable to save the man.

The accident happened at about 7.15pm last night and the road was closed until about 1am today.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance said: "An off duty Community First Responder came across a crash between a car and a motorbike and called 999 as well as starting to carry out CPR on the patient.

"The man riding the motorcycle had suffered multiple serious injuries and was in traumatic cardiac arrest.

"Sadly despite the best efforts of medics at the scene, nothing could be done to save the life of the biker and he was confirmed dead at the scene."

Firefighters from Market Drayton, Wellington and Whitchurch attended, along with police and ambulance crews and the air ambulance.
