Service for Telford fire victim
A memorial service was held to celebrate the life of a Telford man whose death still remains a mystery.
The charred remains of 19-year-old Liam Wright were found inside a fire-damaged shed 25 years ago.
Why he came to be in the shed and how he died remain a mystery, though his family still hopes that his killer will eventually be brought to justice.
The memorial service celebrated Liam's life and was attended by family, friends and old school friends, with music from the Abraham Darby
Academy Band. On display were photographs capturing moments throughout his life, including the photo, right , of Liam as a young boy.
Faith Wright, Liam's mother, now lives in Spain and returned to England for the non-religious humanist service, which was held at The Venue, in Hills Lane Drive, Madeley, on Saturday.
She said: "The family live in hope that one day, the person or persons responsible for Liam's death will be caught."
Mr Wright, who lived in Birchmore, Brookside, died in the suspected arson attack on a shed at the Madeley Ski Centre on September 10, 1990. Deborah Mason, who is Liam's sister, said that she had been overwhelmed by the response from people who knew Liam.
The family remain devastated by the loss of Liam, the nature of his death and the fact that the exactly what happened remains a mystery.
On the night he died, Liam had been on a night out at the Cuckoo Oak pub in Madeley and he was later seen in a Chinese takeaway in the town's High Street.
Police never found out why Mr Wright, who lived in Birchmore, Brookside, was in the building.
A man was arrested in 2010 on suspicion of murder, but the 30-year-old was later released without charge.
