Driver injured as car ends up in a ditch in Wem
A man was taken to hospital after the car he was driving ended up in a ditch in Wem today.
Emergency services were called to Aston Road in Wem at about 7.45am.
Three fire engines from Prees, Wellington and Wem were sent to the scene as well as police, an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle.
A spokesman for the West Midland Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Aston Road at about 7.37am.
"We found a car in a ditch. One ambulance and one rapid response vehicle attended.
"A man in his 50s was treated for minor injuries and taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."
Aston Road was blocked and there was slow traffic in both directions between the Church Lane junction and the B5065 Soulton Road.
Meanwhile in the south of the county the A458 was partially blocked and slow traffic in both directions between the A4169 junction in Much Wenlock and the B4380 junction in Cressage, because of a broken down tanker.
