Police were called to a house in Church Stretton with a report that a "shell shaped object" had been found in the garden by the owners.

It was described as being "bullet-shaped and metal and covered in mud".

Experts from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) regiment of the Army attended and confirmed it was a Victorian-era artillery shell and that it contained no explosives.

The item was removed, but it is unknown how it came to be in Church Stretton.
