Man suffered knife wounds in Shifnal M54 services attack

A man suffered knife wounds in an assault earlier this week near the M54 services in Shifnal , police revealed today.

A 27-year-old man suffered knife injuries to his shoulder in the incident at about 7.40am on Tuesday.

Another man, who was with the victim, was also injured when he tried to intervene. He received an injury to his hand.

Both of the men were taken to Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

Police said that after incident, the suspect then made his way into the service station, wearing a light coloured hooded top with horizontal blue lines on it.

The weapon used in the attack is currently still missing, it is described at having a red handle and could either be a penknife or a fixed bladed knife.

DS John Weaver of West Mercia Police said: "We wish to appeal for any further witnesses to the incident to come forward and for anyone finding such a knife in the vicinity of the motorway services to contact the police."

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH on Tuesday but has since been released on police bail until October 16.
