And with just a day left until the big kick-off Ellesmere College is getting into the spirit of the sport's biggest event by preparing to host its own rugby tournament.

The school is inviting local junior clubs to join its Festival of Rugby event on October 25.

Under 13 and under 16 boys teams are invited to register for the competition, which will be hosted at the school throughout the day.

Club coaches and parents are free to attend the event and there will be opportunities for players to get involved in training sessions from professional coaches.

Food and drink will also be available for those looking to enjoy the whole day's festival.

Alex Murphy, Ellesmere College rugby coach, said: "2015 promises to be rugby's biggest year, and many people can get involved and celebrate the game through the Festival of Rugby.

"We would like as many teams as possible to be involved in this year's competition."

The event will form part of the Rugby World Cup's nationwide programme, called Join the Front Row, which has been running from June 10 to October 31.

It is being delivered in partnership with the Rugby Football Union and gives people across the UK a way to join in and be part of rugby union's biggest year.

A statement on behalf of England Rugby 2015 added: "The Festival of Rugby aims to create a true festival feeling across the UK by offering the opportunity for national, local, community and individual events to be part of rugby's biggest year."

The 2015 Rugby World Cup kicks off with England v Fiji at Twickenham tomorrow.

The final will be played at the same venue on October 31.

The West Midlands will play its part in hosting the tournament with several matches scheduled to take place at Villa Park in Birmingham.
