Witness appeal after cars ends up in ditch in crash near Telford

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious car crash near Telford in which a woman was trapped in her Mini after it careered into a ditch.

The accident happened in Wheat Leasowes in the direction of the Leegomery roundabout after the Mini Cooper crashed with a black Audi A6, at about 5.35pm on Sunday.

The driver of the Mini, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with serious injuries. The Audi drive, a 45-year-old man was uninjured.

Three fire crews from Wellington and the air ambulance were sent to the scene. It took firefighters around half an hour to free the woman from her car.

West Mercia Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or to anyone who saw either vehicle beforehand to call 101, quoting incident number 538 of September 20.
