Liam Lutner was "always looking forward to tomorrow", his family said.

Friends and family were left shocked when Liam, of Wood Lane, Hinstock, near Market Drayton, died suddenly during the early hours of Saturday.

Liam, who attended Woodlands School near Wem, was known for his sense of humour, creativity and bubbly personality.

His parents, John and Heather Lutner, said their son had "touched a lot of people with his sparkle" and that the family had been overwhelmed by tributes and flowers.

In a family statement, the Lutners said: "He was really enjoying school at Woodlands. He was doing so well and was a real star pupil. He liked cooking, woodwork, maths and design and technology and he was a very good cook.

"He achieved much here, representing the school at football, and already achieving well in some examinations.

"Liam was a big presence in school, respected by all and will be missed by everyone here, adults and pupils alike. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time."

Students and parents have been informed of Liam's death and support is being provided to any child who needs it.

Liam's family has organised an informal gathering which will be held at Saint Oswalds Church in Hinstock tomorrow at 3pm.

All are welcome to the event. The family added: "He's going to leave quite a hole behind."

"He had some wild and wonderful wacky ideas and was always very creative.

"Liam also helped on the farm and was great with his own animals – he hatched chickens, looked after the cows and he had ferrets as well.

"Fishing was his main thing and he was in quite a few junior competitions but he had started to play football as well and he enjoyed that.

"But he had a superb voice – in his last year at Hinstock Primary School he stood and the front and had a real Susan Boyle moment. He surprised everyone.

"He was a cheeky teenager as well, always very chatty and bubbly and he loved socialising with all his friends."

Liam has three older brothers, Thomas, Josh and Fabien, and three older sisters, Molly, Laura and Diana, as well as nieces and nephews who were as close to him as siblings.

The family said: "We always found any excuse for a big family party and he really enjoyed those.

"One thing people said about him was that he was always looking forward to tomorrow.

"He was always excited about something and always looking forward to the next thing to do.

"He never followed the plan though – one time he went to build a chicken run and ended up using more nails than wood.

"Liam really enjoyed outside life and liked that he could just go out and be free. He loved living on the farm."

Mr and Mrs Lutner said they had been amazed and humbled by condolences from Liam's friends who have sent flowers, cakes and cards.

A Facebook page was also set up in his memory as well as a fundraising website where friends have donated money for flowers and the funeral.

The family added that the news had come as a shock and they were not yet sure why Liam had died – but they had been overwhelmed by support.

They said: "It is unbelievable. It has been such a big shock for everybody but his friends have raised money for some flowers and they have been helping on the farm as well."
