Wraps come off 14-homes conversion of former Telford school
The wraps have been taken off the conversion of a former school in Telford into new homes.
Councillor Phil Morris-Jones MBE, the mayor of Wellington, cut the ribbon to officially open the 14-home development at Stretton Court in the town.
The new one, two and three-bed homes, built on the former Wrekin Road School site, are already fully let by Severn Homes, a branch of Severnside Housing which is behind the development.
Much of the old school buildings have been retained as part of the development, including the bell tower.
Speaking after the unveiling, Councillor Morris-Jones said: "I welcome this outstanding development by Severn Homes, on what locals know as the old Wrekin Road School."
"They have preserved and renovated the old school and in the process built a small number of high quality homes near to the centre of Wellington and close to the natural beauty of the Wrekin."
Peter Donovan, resources director at Severn Homes, said: "Severn Homes is extremely proud of the high quality new homes, built to address housing need in the local area.
"We are particularly pleased to have been able to convert the much loved former school, retaining its landmark bell tower."
More than 40 guests attended the opening ceremony at the new development including councillors and local residents.
