Frustrated Wem family left hanging on telephone

A family is still waiting for a landline phone connection – eight months after moving into their new home.

Deborah Coleman, who lives with her husband and three children in Freemans Place, Wem, has been left without a phone line and broadband.

Mrs Coleman, 42, has hit out at BT, claiming that the company has done nothing to help since August.

She said: "We still haven't had any luck with our phone line.

"We are in exactly the same position as we were at the start.

"Nothing has changed apart from the landlord got a blockage fixed in August.

"BT Openreach keep blaming the blockage as the problem even though it has been completed.

"It is so frustrating.

"No-one has been since August since the blockage was done."

The family moved into their home at the end of March.

When they moved in they were told the phone line was connected by BT Openreach and the only job which needed to be done was a phone socket put in.

However this turned out not to be the case.

Mrs Coleman added: "When someone did eventually come on May 5 they said the three newly built houses in Freemans Place did have wiring going to the house from the gate but for some reason it hadn't been connected to the road and they would have to come back.

"I am still waiting, as is my neighbour.

"Trying to get a proper response from Openreach is impossible and they keep giving myself and my neighbour random dates and not turning up to complete the work.

"It is very frustrating."

In August BT said they were currently investigating the matter in order to establish why there appears to have been a delay in installation and ensure that they are connected as quickly possible.

BT has not yet commented.
