An inquest was held into Stephen Ashley Jones, who was injured in the accident on the A49, north of Craven Arms. He died on August 19 at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Mr Jones had worked as a sous chef at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel and Spa in Llanwddyn.

After the hearing held at Shirehall in Shrewsbury yesterday, his mother, Jane Silva, said she would like to thank everybody who attended his funeral.

"It was packed and the donations were over £1,000, we have actually given some to the critical care unit at Stoke Hospital and the rest to the Air Ambulance.

"We were told at the hospital that he had actually registered as a donor and we were absolutely shocked.

"That has since led to two people benefitting from his kidneys and now his liver. That shows he is living on in someone else. Most lads wouldn't think about anything like that."

The inquest heard that Mr Jones, who lived in Glentworth, Morda, near Oswestry, was been killed when the blue Suzuki motorcycle he was riding strayed into the opposite lane and into the path of the horse box.

Shropshire coroner John Ellery recorded that he died of traumatic brain injuries.
