Man left threatening messages on wife's answer phone

A man has admitted leaving a series of threatening messages on his estranged wife's answer phone when he appeared before magistrates.

Toby Peter Higginson, aged 36, pleaded guilty to one charge of sending a communications conveying a threatening message yesterday at Telford Magistrates Court.

Mrs Sara Beddows, prosecuting, said Higginson had left six messages in the space of 24 minutes on his estranged wife's answer machine on August 6 as she was staying in Ludlow, following a row about the couple's separation.

Higginson, who was not represented in court, apologised for his actions.

Higginson, of Staunton-on-Arrow, Leominster, was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
