Pictures: Newport road closed as police investigate after man, 18, suffers 'cardiac arrest'
A main road near Newport has been closed for over 10 hours after a man suffered a suspected cardiac arrest, police say.
The 18-year-old was discovered just before midnight in Edgmond by Harper Adams University students, who raised the alarm.
While waiting for an ambulance to arrive the students carried out CRP.
The man was than taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, where he remains this morning.
The B5062 between Edgmond and Newport was then closed for the rest of the night and all of this morning, with police diverting traffic.
Constable Lee Thomas of West Mercia Police said: "At this time officers are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding how the male came to be where he was found.
"Whilst those enquiries continue, the main B5062 road through Edgmond remains closed between Harper Adams University and the junction with Newport Road at the bottom of Cheney Hill.
"At this time, there is nothing to suggest anything suspicious has taken place.
"We would all like to praise the quick thinking and efforts of the students form the nearby university, whose prompt and selfless actions have no doubt prevented this incident becoming even more serious."
