£100,000 jackpot celebrations at Telford bingo hall
Bingo fans packed out a hall to celebrate after a huge group of county players scooped a £100,000 jackpot in a seasonal contest.
Mecca Bingo in Telford organised a party after 121 of its players won more than £800 each from their Halloween night out.
The hall, at Southwater in the town centre, came out on top in Mecca's Halloween Firecracker stunt earlier this month.
More than 300 people packed out the hall on Saturday to celebrate the win.
The jackpot came in a game in which each hall across the UK was presented with numbers to tick off.
The number 10 was the last to come up in Telford, sparking wild celebrations after it resulted in the shared jackpot.
At the celebration the winners received their £830 cheques, and joining the fun was a Bruno Mars tribute act, who added to the party atmosphere.
Nathan Sutton, team leader, said it was a "fantastic night".
"What a night. More than 300 people came along to celebrate the win, it was great fun," he said.
"Since the win there's been even more of a fun atmosphere here and now people can't wait for the next one."
The next Mecca Bingo event – which will offer 20 chances to win £5,000 – will be taking place on Saturday, November 28.
Mr Sutton added: "I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and helped celebrate the win. I hope to see them all come along again in the future."
Bingo players across Telford have been coining it in for for some time after Globe Bingo in Donnington paid out more than £45,000 in just four days.
That winning streak began in August when an elderly man won the top prize of £25,000 – and the good luck continued a few days later when a woman in her 40s took the national prize of £20,000.
Last year, one Telford resident managed to take home £92,800 at the same bingo hall in Donnington.
The woman, who remained anonymous, could have won double the amount, but it was split with another player from the other side of the country.
