A neighbour alerted the fire service after they heard the smoke alarm.

Two crews from Telford Central and Wellington were sent to the scene, where it took them about 25 minutes to make the house safe.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue, said: "It was a small fire involving candle wax on a storage heater.

"Two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one nine metre ladder and breaking in tools in use.

"The fire service were alerted to the incident by a neighbour informing us that the smoke alarm was activating, this is a reminder to never leave candles unattended and check your smoke alarms weekly."
