The organisers of Donnington Bonfire say it is set to be bigger than ever and the best yet.

The Mitchell family have been organising the event for the past 33 years and have just put the finishing touches to their mammoth bonfire, made of hundreds of stacked pallets that have taken weeks to assemble.

This year the gates and fun fair will open at 4pm, the bonfire will be lit at 8pm tomorrow, with two firework displays, the first starting at 7pm and the second at 9pm.

As usual, the display will be accompanied by the huge fun fair at the Broad Oak Playing Fields. Tickets to the bonfire cost £2, free for under fives but there are limited numbers available.

Parking also costs £2 on the field. Money from car parking fees at Broad Oaks Field goes to the Telford Sea Cadets.

Mark Mitchell said: "The small ticket price covers the service charges which rise every year.

"But it also safeguards the families visiting the show, with a fantastic security team keeping the brilliant family atmosphere going all evening long."

The event will close with a grand finale at 10pm.

Wellington Road, Donnington, will be closed except for access to car parks from 3.45pm. In previous years the event has attracted 12,000 people.
