Thieves break in to family home in broad daylight

Cash and sentimental jewellery were taken by burglars who forced their way in to a house near Oswestry in the middle of the day.

The thieves entered the property on Overton Road, St Martins between 1.30pm and 3.30pm on Thursday.

They carried out an untidy search of the home and took cash and jewellery.

Some of the items were valuable, but more importantly for the family were of great sentimental value, some being passed down generations.

West Mercia Police today said they were keen to speak to the occupants of a Volkswagen Golf seen in the area beforehand.

The same vehicle was seen in the Juniper Close and Ifton Fields areas of St Martins.

Anyone without information should contact police on 101, quoting 0455S 121115 as the incident number.
