Two held on suspicion of attempted murder in Shrewsbury
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a young man was found stabbed on a garage forecourt in Shrewsbury.
Detectives were called to the Meole Brace area by members of the public who discovered the 19-year-old collapsed in a pool of blood in the early hours of the morning.
The victim, who comes from Shrewsbury, suffered puncture wounds to the chest and neck. He was found at the BP garage in Hereford Road at 1.30am on Sunday.
Emily Cleland, of West Mercia Police, said it followed an altercation in Stapleton Road, where a man was assaulted in the street.
Two 18-year-old men, both from Liverpool, were later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. A 17-year-old male from Shrewsbury was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All have been released on police bail while the investigation continues.
Detective inspector Mark Jones, said that although the incident was "worrying" he wanted to reassure the public that violence of this type was rare for the area.
The detective also encouraged anyone with information to contact the police.
He said: "The injuries are not life-threatening but nonetheless it is a serious incident.
"We appeal for witnesses that might have heard or seen anything in Shrewsbury at the time to come forward.
"It is a worrying incident but I want to reassure the public that these incidents are fairly rare and we are treating it seriously and working on the investigation."
It was confirmed that the man's injuries were not life-threatening and he was in a stable condition in hospital.
