£400 of diesel stolen from parked lorry near Newport as driver sleeps

A large amount of fuel was stolen from a parked lorry near Newport - while the driver was asleep.

About 77 gallons of diesel was taken from the vehicle while it was parked in a lay-by on the A41.

The fuel taken is thought to be worth about £400, and was stolen on Tuesday night or in the early hours of this morning.

Pc Lee Thomas, of West Mercia Police said: "Overnight Tuesday to Wednesday, a lorry driver reported having an estimated 350 litres of diesel worth some £400 stolen from the tanks of his truck whilst parked overnight along the A41 bypass."

Anyone with information is asked to police on 101.
