Three arrested on suspicion of robbery in Telford
Two men and a teenager have been arrested on suspicion of robbery in Telford.
Police have refused to say what robbery the three have been arrested in connection with. But it does come after police appealed for witnesses after two homes were raided by masked men earlier this month.
The robberies took place on Wednesday this week and on November 7.
The first robbery happened in Ketley Bank, where a couple in their 70s were threatened by three masked men who forced their way into their home and demanded money.
The offenders took various other items of property belonging to the victims before leaving the address.
West Mercia Police said it happened at about 9.30am on November 7 at a home in East Road.
The second robbery happened on Wednesday at a home in Leonard Close in Donnington, at about 8.20pm.
Again three men knocked the door and a 76-year-old man opened it, before they forced their way inside and threatened the man as well as two elderly women, who were also in the house.
The offenders searched the property and left the house through the front door with various items of jewellery.
Now police have confirmed three men, aged 17, 25 and 39 are currently in custody awaiting questioning.
However, detectives were unable to confirm whether the two robberies are linked and if the arrests had anything to do with the above robberies.
Kieren Bodill, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "I can confirm three men have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
"However, I am unable to confirm at this time what robberies they have been arrested in connection with as the investigation is still ongoing.
"We also cannot confirm if the two robberies are connected, but officers are not ruling out the possibility they could be.
"The three men are currently in custody waiting to be questioned by officers."
Anyone with any information about either robbery, or may have seen suspicious activity within the area at the time, are asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101.
