And this month the youngster from High Town, in Bridgnorth, will take on a sponsored walk as his challenge.

Pippa Pope, Logan's mother, said her son had decided to raise money for a different charity every December, each time dressed as Santa.

She said: "This time Logan has chosen to fundraise for St Mary's Church, Bridgnorth, where he is a chorister.

"He has decided to do a sponsored walk up and down nine sets of Bridgnorth's Steps. He will start at the beginning of the service on December 13 and hopefully arrive back at the end of the service, just in time for tea and biscuits.

"Logan has called this Santa's Steps, but those old enough are calling it Logan's Run. He has set his target at £100 but has already got more than £200 promised in sponsorship.

"We have trained for the steps walk and it is quite a challenge for me to keep up with him as he trots up the stairs – he is very excited about the big day."

Last year, Logan raised more than £600 for the British Red Cross Young Carers by doing a sponsored six-mile bike ride. Previously he did an indoor sky dive and raised more than £70 for the Young Carers. His fundraising efforts have not gone unnoticed and this year Logan has received two awards for his fundraising.

Ms Pope said: "In March this year Logan was nominated for the High Sheriff's Citizenship award by his school, St Leonard's Primary, Bridgnorth, then later in the year he was awarded the Davies Shield by the outgoing Mayor.

"Both of these awards were in recognition of his fundraising and his dedication to his sister, as he is a Young Carer himself."

Logan's sister Estelle, 10, is autistic and Pippa said he is a fantastic brother, best friend and comfort to her.

Donations can be sent to the Rev Simon Cawdell, The Rectory, 16 East Castle Street, Bridgnorth, Shropshire, WV16 4AL, with cheques payable to 'St Marys Restoration Fund'.
