The fire, which is believed to have started accidentally, broke out in the Malthouse Surgery's top-floor X-ray room just before noon.

Thankfully the animals - a cat inpatient and the vet's resident dog Hugo - which were in the surgery at the time were not harmed.

Firefighters from Minsterley, Shrewsbury, Telford and Tweedale attended the blaze which is now under investigation.

Crews had to remove part of the former malthouse building's roof in a bid to combat the fire.

People in the area were urged to stay away and to keep windows and doors closed.

The fire closed the A488 Station Road road between the B4387 and Hawthorn Road.
