Primary school league tables: Telford schools at top of the class
Three primary schools in Telford & Wrekin were today toasting the success of their pupils for all achieving top grades.
All key stage two children achieved top marks in reading, writing and maths at High Ercall Primary School, St Luke's Catholic Primary School in Trench and St Peter's Church of England Primary School in Edgmond, near Newport.
And the school on top in the borough was St Peter's, which soared 15 places to the top spot.
This meant unseating last year's top performer St George's Church of England Primary School in Telford, which fell to fourth place.
The results represent a vast improvement on last year's results, where none of the schools under Telford & Wrekin Council control achieved 100 per cent in the three subjects.
Councillor Paul Watling, the authority's cabinet member for children, young people and families, said he was delighted.
He said the results continue to rise every year and praised staff and pupils for their efforts.
He said: "We are really pleased that Telford & Wrekin primary schools are celebrating another good set of key stage two results this year.
"Our results at primary level are continuing to rise each year.
"We would like to congratulate the children, the parents, teachers and governors for all their hard work."
The school at the bottom of the league tables in Telford & Wrekin this year was Dawley Church of England Primary School, where 63 per cent of pupils achieved level four in the 3 Rs.
The school has fallen six places compared to last year.
St Lawrence Church of England School in Preston on the Weald Moors, which was ranked bottom of the league table last year, has risen four places this year.
In 2013 the school was top of the tables, but last year fell 49 places to the bottom of the league.
But one of this year's biggest climbers is Crudgington Primary School, which has soared 30 places to secure the number 11 spot.
One school – Lawley Village Academy – had no results as currently it only caters for key stage one having opened in the past few days.
