The RSPCA is now appealing for information after the 10-week-old emaciated male kitten was found on a hairpin bend in Ironbridge Road, Jackfield.

The black kitten was found by a member of the public last Friday.

He is now in the care of the RSPCA and has been named Jack, after where he was found.

Elaine Williams, RSPCA animal welfare officer said: "Jack was sadly not in a great condition when he was found.

"He was very skinny, dehydrated, had diarrhea and was full of worms, but thankfully he is on the mend now and is being given a lot of love and attention by staff at the RSPCA's Gonsal Farm Animal Centre.

"It is terrible to think that somebody abandoned such a small, defenceless and vulnerable kitten in this location as there is a chance he could never have been found.

"Because he was found in a box, it is obvious that someone put him there on purpose.

"He is a tiny little kitten and was very vulnerable.

"If anyone knows anything about how Jack came to be in this situation, we urge you to call us in complete confidence."

Jack will now be in the RSPCA's care until he is old enough to be rehomed.

Anyone with information about Jack is asked to call the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
