Mr Vaz is now hoping to enter the record books again, this time by running 400 marathons in 365 days – more than one marathon a day.

The current record is 239 marathons in a year.

To put his challenge into context, Mr Vaz aims to run a total of 10,488 miles, almost the same distance as flying from London to Sydney, Australia – 10,553 miles. The personal trainer from Penkridge decided to represent Adoption UK as his charity of choice as he was adopted himself.

Mark said: "My brother and I were both adopted so adoptive parents are an inspiration for me.

"We both owe a lot to our adoptive parents as we've been very fortunate. I don't know what my life would have been like if I'd stayed in care."
