One lane of the motorway remains closed, however, between the Cosford and Wolverhampton exits.

Closures have been in place for two weeks while emergency work to replace damaged concrete slabs is carried out.

The hard shoulder and one lane will continue to be closed, with Highways England yet to confirm when the work will be completed.

Drivers are advised to exit the motorway at junction 3 to avoid congestion.

Ian Askew, asset development team leader at Highways England said:"We're doing all we can to get these emergency repairs completed without having to completely close the road."
